BRICS and India-China relations

On 3 July, 2017, Gateway House held a meeting on BRICS and India-China relations, with the China Institute of International Studies (CIIS) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, China. The Chinese delegation consisted of Dong Manyuan, Vice President, China Institute of International Studies, He Rui, Assistant Research Fellow, China Institute of International Studies, Ning Shengnen, Assistant Research Fellow, China Institute of International Studies, and Wang Senhao, Third Secretary, Department of Policy Planning, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, China. The discussion was moderated by Neelam Deo, Director, Gateway House. Other Gateway House participants were Akshay Mathur, Director of Research and Analysis & Fellow, Geoeconomic Studies, K. N. Vaidyanathan, Adjunct Senior Fellow, Geoeconomic Studies and Chief Risk Officer, Mahindra Group, Amit Bhandari, Fellow, Energy and Environmental Studies, and Sameer Patil, Director, Centre for International Security and Fellow, National Security Studies.

The discussions focused on BRICS & Global Governance, including the priorities, expectations and the potential of BRICS and the significance and deliverables possible from India and China at multilateral forums, and India-China relations with special emphasis on economic and energy engagements.
